Choosing an EV charger
Which EV charger should I buy?
It depends mainly on your power supply and whether you have solar. Single-phase homes suit a charger of about 7 kW, such as the Evnex E2 Flex, E2 Core or E2 Plus, or the myenergi zappi GLO. Three-phase homes can charge at up to 22 kW with the Evnex X22, myenergi zappi or Smappee EV Wall, if the car accepts it.
Best home EV charger guideWhat's the difference between the Evnex E2 Flex, E2 Core and E2 Plus?
All three are 7.4 kW single-phase chargers in the same enclosure. The E2 Flex charges from the grid as supplied, and Evnex offers a solar upgrade. The E2 Core can prioritise excess solar. The E2 Plus can too, and adds an 8 m cable (5 m on the Flex and Core), 4G as well as Wi-Fi, load balancing between E2 Plus chargers and four finishes.
What's the difference between the myenergi zappi and zappi GLO?
The zappi works on single-phase (up to 7 kW) or three-phase (up to 22 kW) supply in the same unit, and has ECO and ECO+ surplus-solar modes with a sensor included. The zappi GLO is a 7 kW single-phase charger with app control and solar and home energy integration, but no dedicated solar diversion.
Can you get a charger you don't list?
Possibly. Tell us which charger you're after and we'll check with our suppliers.
Charger SourcingVehicle and charger compatibility
What connector do your chargers use?
Every charger we sell uses the Type 2 connector. Check that your EV has a Type 2 charging port.
Should I choose a tethered cable or a socket?
A tethered charger has its cable permanently attached. A socket (untethered) charger needs your own Type 2 cable, which keeps the wall tidy and lets you choose the cable length. The Evnex X22, myenergi zappi and Smappee EV Wall come either way; the Evnex E2 range and myenergi zappi GLO are tethered.
How fast will my car charge?
At the lowest of three limits: your power supply (about 7 kW on single-phase, up to 22 kW on three-phase), the charger's maximum power, and your car's maximum AC charging rate. Many EVs charge below 22 kW on AC, so check your car's specifications.
Single-phase vs three-phase guideSolar charging
Which chargers can charge my car from excess solar?
The Evnex E2 Core and E2 Plus (single-phase), the Evnex X22 (sensors included) and the myenergi zappi (ECO and ECO+ modes, sensor included) can charge from excess solar as supplied. The Evnex E2 Flex needs Evnex's solar upgrade, and the Smappee EV Wall needs additional Smappee monitoring hardware. The myenergi zappi GLO has no dedicated solar diversion.
Solar EV charging guideHow much spare solar do I need?
EV charging has a minimum current of 6 amps, so a charger needs about 1.4 kW of surplus on single-phase, or about 4.1 kW across three phases, before it can charge from solar alone. Evnex states the X22 starts excess-solar charging above roughly 1.5 kW of export on single-phase and 4.5 kW on three-phase.
Single-phase vs three-phase
How do I know if my home has single-phase or three-phase power?
Most homes have single-phase power. A licensed electrician can confirm what you have. In TSG Electrical's installation quote you can choose “Unsure” and see the price for both.
Which chargers work on both single-phase and three-phase?
The myenergi zappi and Smappee EV Wall work on single or three-phase supply in the same unit. The Evnex X22 is a three-phase charger whose phase switching also allows single-phase operation. The Evnex E2 range and myenergi zappi GLO are single-phase.
Installation and pricing
How much does installation cost?
With TSG Electrical in South East Queensland, provisional prices start at $770.00 including GST for a single-phase installation with a cable run up to 5 m, and $990.00 for three-phase. Longer cable runs, multi-storey homes and any switchboard work cost more. TSG Electrical confirms your final quote.
Installation cost guideCan I use my own electrician?
Yes. EV chargers must be installed by a licensed electrician, and any licensed electrician can install the chargers we sell. In Brisbane, Moreton Bay, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast, our installation partner TSG Electrical can quote and install it for you.

Delivery and Caboolture pickup
How much is delivery, and how long does it take?
Shipping is calculated at checkout by weight: about $35.00 per charger anywhere in Australia. The estimated transit time is 5–8 business days, an estimate rather than a guarantee. Some chargers are ordered from our suppliers after you buy, which can add to the total time. We deliver to Australian addresses only.
Shipping & Delivery PolicyCan I pick up my order in Caboolture?
Yes, free. Choose pickup at checkout, wait for confirmation that your order is ready, then collect it from Shed 2, 27–31 Alta Rd, Caboolture QLD 4510. Please bring your order confirmation.
What does “Available to order” mean?
We source chargers through our supplier network, so not every charger is held in stock. Chargers are ordered from the supplier when you buy, and delivery times are estimates.
Warranty and support
What warranty do the chargers have?
The manufacturer's warranty: Evnex chargers have 4 years residential (3 years commercial), myenergi chargers 3 years, and the Smappee EV Wall 2 years. Manufacturer warranties are in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
What if my charger arrives damaged or develops a fault?
Contact us as soon as you can on admin@evsc.com.au or 0448 921 854, with your order number, a description of the issue and photos if you have them. If the charger is installed, contact us before arranging its removal or replacement.
Return & Refund PolicyCan I return a charger if I change my mind?
No. We don't accept change-of-mind returns, including for ordering the wrong model, colour or configuration, so please check specifications and compatibility before you buy. Your rights under Australian Consumer Law for faulty or incorrect goods aren't affected.
Purchasing and payment
How can I pay?
At our Shopify checkout, by Visa, Mastercard or American Express, or with Shop Pay, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
Can I cancel an order?
Contact us as soon as possible. A cancellation before your order is processed or dispatched may be considered, but change-of-mind cancellations aren't guaranteed, and may be declined once the order has been processed, sourced from a supplier or dispatched. Your rights under Australian Consumer Law aren't affected.
